Canada Life – Paramedical Coverage Balance

Members may have noticed that their paramedical coverage balance is not currently displaying in their My Canada Life account.

Paramedical coverage provides a combined annual maximum of $3,000 for all paramedical services, with a maximum of $1,000 per service. At this time, the Canada Life platform is unable to accurately track usage across all paramedical services and display the remaining combined balance.

PSBT is working with Canada Life to resolve this issue; however, a solution may take some time.

In the meantime, members are encouraged to keep track of their paramedical claims and usage. If you are unsure of your remaining balance, please contact Canada Life Claims Support at 1-800-957-9777 or use the Contact Us option through your My Canada Life account.

Pre-Authorization for Treatments or Purchases Over $500

The Power Sector Benefit Trust would like to remind members to submit a pre-determination to Canada Life before receiving treatment or making a purchase expected to cost more than $500.

A pre-determination provides Canada Life with an outline of the recommended treatment, service, aid or supply before the expense is incurred. This information is typically prepared by your physician or healthcare provider.

Canada Life will review the information and advise you of the amount eligible for coverage under the PSBT Benefit Plan. This allows you to better understand your coverage and any potential out-of-pocket costs before proceeding with the treatment or purchase.

Canada Life is the claims adjudicator for the PSBT Benefit Plan. For questions regarding coverage, claims or pre-determinations, please contact Canada Life Claims Support at 1-800-957-9777 or use the Contact Us option through your My Canada Life account.

Submitting a pre-determination in advance can help avoid unexpected costs and ensure you understand your available coverage before committing to an expense.
